Acoustic and electric bassist Curtis Ostle is a versatile musician who has played in and led groups in Rochester, New York, Cleveland, Ohio, and his home town of Washington, DC.  Curtis has performed at numerous popular venues in the United States including the Terrace Theater and the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, Ortlieb's Jazzhaus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Nighttown in Cleveland, Ohio.  He also played in the house bands at both the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio. Curtis has performed with a number of jazz greats including Jimmy Heath, Rich Perry, Marcus Belgrave, and Eric Lewis. In June 2008, he played at the Rochester International Jazz Festival with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble featuring Joe and Pat Labarbera. While still in high school, Curtis toured South African townships and cities with the school's jazz ensemble and performed on the "Voice of Soweto" radio station.  Curtis has studied with prominent jazz bassists John Clayton, Todd Coolman, and the late Dennis Irwin, among others. He also studied "La Nouvelle Technique de la Contrabasse" for six years, the groundbreaking approach developed by double bass luminary Francois Rabbath.  Curtis holds a bachelor's degree from Oberlin Conservatory and recently received a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, where he also served as a Teaching Assistant and instructor.
