Beginning Piano Tip 1
This is the first in a monthly series of piano practice tips and suggestions that will help you improve your performance, whether it is for a concert or for your weekly lesson with your teacher. The three main elements of music are melody, harmony and rhythm. Of these, rhythm is the most important and is the subject (briefly) of this months tip. Always practice at a SLOW ENOUGH SPEED initially so as to maintain a definite pulse (beat) without stopping or hesitating (assuming that you have learned the notes, fingering etc thoroughly). Only then attempt to play the piece at a faster tempo.More about rhythm next month!
