music. Students will develop skills applicable not only to
traditional and modern jazz, but to all forms of music, from world
music, to pop, to rock music. Heavy emphasis is given to ensemble
playing. Students will learn the art of listening and playing
as a group, and will learn to play in different styles such as Swing,
Blues, Funk, and Latin styles. Students will learn about the
language of jazz and develop their own musical voice through Jazz
Theory and Improvisation classes. Instrument classes will help develop
mastery of one's chosen musical tool. Finally, Jazz Seminars will
provide useful historical and technical information about the development
