Native Rhythm Productions and JZ School are very pleased to announce a unique educational event, a Kora Masterclass delivered by Elage Noumoukunda Cissoko (El Hadj) on July 17th at 1pm.

The special Masterclass has two parts.

Firstly, El Hadj will present his music, provide some information about tradition of Kora playing and Senegalese music and then demonstrate how to play the instrument.

Secondly, stringed instrumentalists, contemporary (guitar) and also traditional Chinese players (erhu, guzhen. Pipa etc) are invited to bring their instruments and will have the chance to learn some African tunes in a special workshop.

The outcome of the workshop will be a unique in class concert where everyone can take part and play some great African music.

Elage Noumoukunda Cissoko (El Hadj) is a Senegalese Kora player, percussionist and vocalist from a famous family of griots (outstanding musicians and singers). His mastery of the rhythm and the melody make him one of the most gifted musicians of his generation.

El Hadj is a rising star in the African music and world music scene and has the chance to work with renowned artists such as Youssou Ndour, KY Many Marley (son of Bob Marley), IRA Colman (Herbie Hancock¡¯s bassist), Ernest Ranglin, Alpha Blondy, Omar Pene, Red rat, Princess Erika, Lara Fabian, and MC Solaar.
