Beginning Jazz Piano Master class with Burnett Thompson April 11th at 4pm at JZ School The charismatic pianist, composer and educator from Washington D.C., Burnett Thompson, will be returning to China on his annual foray, this time supported by the US Embassy. Burnett will be delivering lectures on the "Parallels in the history of music in China and America¡± in Shenyang, Dalian, Wuhan and Shanghai. However, at JZ School (and not connected to his other activities), Burnett, will be contributing his popular workshop, ¡°Beginning Jazz Piano¡±. Burnett will provide an overview of the basics of how to make that piano swing and at the same time engage the audience with his anecdotes and observations. Burnett will invite attendees to actively participate in the session and will strategically deploy the double bass, snare drum and high-hat, so that the master class has a jam session feel to it. If you think Americans can¡¯t do ironic humor well, check Burnett out, and learn jazz piano in a relaxed yet amused environment! Burnett's website: http://www.pianojazz.com/ Free admission! About Burnett Over the years Burnett Thompson has performed as soloist with several orchestras, including the Washington Chamber Symphony, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, National Chamber Orchestra, Arlington Symphony, Greenville Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony, and the American Youth Philharmonic.
