BABY
& BEGINNER BALLET CLASSES
Age:
2 to 6 years old.
In
these “first steps” and beginner dance classes for little ones: motor skills,
musicality, rhythm, discipline, equilibrium, flexibility, sociability, notion
of time and space and teamwork skills are worked on. Activities include: floor
exercises, wheel dances, simple choreographies, jumps, turns, walking and
running and short sequences. The classes get progressively challenging
according to age.

Children’s Musical Theater “The Sound of Music”

A 12 weeks course of creative Musical
Theatre ending with a polished performance to dazzle family and friends.
In 12 3-hour sessions kids will develop expressive characters and learn cool
show tune moves and create props and costume accessories. In each session
children will have classes in three main areas singing & dramatic
performance, dance & stage presence and arts and crafts which includes prop
and costume design and production.

At the end of the semester they will
take their new creations and skills to JZ Club where they will take centre
stage accompanied by professional live musicians.

Dance & Movement

Shimmy, Shake, and Express yourself
through the Creative Movement & Dance class. In this low stress, high fun
class, your little dancers will wiggle their worries away while unlocking their
creative side. There is no right or wrong moves in this high energy class, just
an open environment for your children to express themselves. All skill levels
encouraged. Creative Movement & Dance is taught by a highly acclaimed
instructor who believes that through dance, your children will be able to
release stress and unlock their inner happiness.

Junior Musical Theater “The Prince of Egypt”

A new 12 week program at JZ School for
slightly older children who are ready to focus on the key performance aspects
of musical theater.
|
Each session is comprised of three
sections; dramatic performance, singing and dancing. Students are also invited
to get involved with script adaptation, stage management, and directing.
|
The course is based around a particular
musical theater stage production. At the end of the program at least one public
performance is organized.

Melody Foundation

Before plunging strait into private
instrumental classes kids may prefer a class that teaches basic musicianship,
music theory, and musical imagination in a fun group environment. Through games, art, and stories, Melody
Foundation allows children to build these skills and appreciate that music is a
fun and creative experience.

Mixed Performing Arts
|
Saturday: (3 -4.5 y/o and 4.5 – 6 y/o) 9:00AM-12:00PM

Fun and creative
activities coordinated around folk and fairy tales to provide strong themes and
invoke the imagination of small children. Each session is divided into the
activities below:

Musical storytelling using
live and recorded music to stimulate the imagination to invoke themes, and
facilitate physical and trait characterization. The vocabulary of the songs
will also be learned and the “story” enacted in class and in the final
performance.

Creative dance and movement encouraging children to use their imagination and express themselves
freely for physical characterization and interpretation of music.

Art and craft sessions where
accessories and props will be designed and constructed by the attendees.

Percussion Fun

| Basic rhythm patterns
and drumming technique are introduced in this fun packed alternative percussion
class. Using hand held, improvised and standard percussion instruments, participants
will learn that the world around them is full of rhythm and beats. Young
drummers will also learn how to create their own rhythms. The class introduces
children to the world of percussion. |
